Quotes (aka denialist twaddle)

Barnaby Joyce

In another laughable attempt by a climate denier to link environmentalists to Nazis, the leader of the National Party in the Australian Senate brands environmentalists as green fanatics and eco-Nazis.

"One has to sort of fall into sort of a lock-step goose step and parade around the office, you know, ranting and raving that we are all as one?"

Is this a question? Is it a statement? Is this man mentally unhinged? Who can tell?

The farmers of Queensland, the National Party's core constituency, must be wondering just whose side Barnaby is on. Even the very conservative National Farmers Federation has called on Barnaby and the National Party not to oppose Australia's carbon emissions trading scheme. Barnaby should be investigating the potentially very profitable agricultural carbon offset market that could secure the future of farmers and restore degraded land in the process. With scientists telling us that future heatwaves, droughts and floods will make existing conditions look mild by comparison, farmers will rue the day they ever voted for this science and environment hating fool.

Cardinal Pell

George Pell, born 1941, is an Australian Roman Catholic cardinal. He is the current Archbishop of Sydney.

"I think I read somewhere the temperature has gone up 0.5 of a degree on Mars. Well, the industrial-military complex up on Mars can't be blamed for that."

Oh, how very droll! He went on to state that global warming was much less important than tackling poverty, marriage breakdown or abortion rates.

Dennis Jensen

In an attempt to justify his climate denying stance in the face of overwhelming scientific evidence, Western Australian MP Dennis Jensen (Member for Tangney) refers to Adolf Hitler as an example of how scientists can be wrong...

"Albert Einstein was very much criticised by Hitler, and Hitler actually had a group of 100 top scientists in Germany write a book called 100 scientists against Einstein."

The South African-born denier also boycotted Australia's Federal Parliament on the day that the formal apology to the Stolen Generations was made by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.
